What a weekend

Aside from being with my daughter, it's been a rather cruddy weekend.

Daughter had some stomach problems much of the weekend. Ate very little. Seems okay now but still less appetite than normal.

We went to a movie yesterday after doing some shopping. Movie was scheduled late and was on the edge of being able to catch the bus home. Movie malfunctioned (was loaded upside down) and resulted in severe delay in starting. So we missed the bus home. From the theater, it would cost nearly $40 to take a taxi home. So we took the bus to Walmart nearest the house. Had dinner at McDonald's and called for a taxi. It took well over an hour and calling two taxi companies to get a ride.

Got home and the generator wouldn't start. Was able to get about an hour of lights and fan out of the battery. I was able to fix the generator this morning. Just a general tuneup and adjustments. Running fine now.

The feral cat running around here managed to get to the baby bunny. Found it this morning with guts torn out and face completely gone. Later in the day, the cat came back and tried to get at the adults. Didn't manage it but scared one so badly it seems to have died of a heart attack. So both bunnies are buried next to each other by the shed.

Few days ago I found the remains of a chicken by the back gate. Cat killed a neighbor's chicken. Couple months ago, the cat killed three of my own chicks.

I've tried catching the cat and driving the cat away. Fired slingshots at it. The dog just made friends with it. So now I have a bowl of chicken skin mixed with poison near the rabbit hutch waiting for it. Something has to be done with this cat killing so many animals.

Had an invasion of large roaches this week. They seemed to come from nowhere. Had to spray the house inside and out. Now I've been finding dead ones in various places. But obviously in places and numbers showing they just entered the house. I think they're coming from the house across the street which is being renovated lately. While renovating, they probably disturbed a colony. They've torn down walls and replaced windows. Least I have enough spray to last for months and is still effective.

Only three days left to the contract. See what comes after that.
