Got the section next to the fence done. Decided against using the bricks, after all. I actually want the garden to have a slightly wild and natural appearance, rather than a manicured one. As things stand, the garden is not completely symmetrical but more so than I'd like for the future. It will stay this way for now but the layout will change in coming years. More mounds than rows and more walkways than trenches. I have found the current layout to be an advantage while bringing the soil into better condition. Once that's fully achieved, this format won't be necessary.

The area next to the fence took longer than planned. Extended the space longer than first thoughts by moving the pile of PVC to the back corner of the yard. Looks better and left more useable soil exposed. There were lots of old leaves under the PVC, partially composted. Raked those in.

For now, decided to plant before mulching. Planted peas and cucumbers. May be early for cucumbers but see how it works out. Then mulched. The space is larger than I thought, so I may extend the mulch out further and plant melons in front of the vines later. But not until slightly warmer weather.

Right now, think it's time for lunch and a nap. Supposed to work tonight. So far. Erratic schedule mixed with couple episodes of gluten "poisoning" have been making me tired too often.
